The Utah Gravity Series returns to Southern Utah and Brian Head has the reputation for some of the best gravity trails in the region so get ready for some awesome racing action!
This year’s two-race event will include the Utah Cycling Association Championship race and awards on Saturday and separate Utah Gravity Series Race on Sunday. This will be Race #2 and #3 for Utah Gravity Series points.
Saturday’s race
The UCA Championship race begins at Noon and will feature a 1-Run competition down the classic Timberline trail.
Cat 2's will be on course first and start individually at 1-minute intervals. The approximately 2.5-mile course starts near the top of Lift #5 and travels down to the resort base. Expect finish times to be around 4 to 5 minutes. Individual start times will be posted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, at the base of the Giant Steps lift. Pros can expect a cash purse for both Men & Women’s classes
Sunday's race
The approximately 2 mile Downhill course begins at the top of the Giant Steps chair lift. The course will start on Lil’ Gritty but will mostly descend the Wildflower DH trail. Nearer to the base, the course will use Tank’s Track and finish out on the Malicious Woods trail. Cat 3 athletes will be routed around the super nasty section. This is the same course used for the past few races at Brian Head.
Racing begins at 11:30 a.m. with Novice 9-12 and Youth 6-8 on course first, then Cat 3's (Novice), Cat 2's and Cat 1's to follow next and then finish up
with the Pros.
All Cat 3 racers will use the “out-around” that
avoids “Faith’s Wicked Garden” (the “out-around” section merges back in just below Faith’s).
The race will be a one-run format. Individual start times for the race will be posted at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday morning at the base of the Giant Steps lift. Pros can expect a cash purse for both Men & Women’s classes.
