Flyin' Brian will feature Downhill race #4 of the 2025 Utah Gravity Series and also a Super D race down the Timberline trail.
Saturday’s race begins at Noon and will feature a 1-Run competition down Brian Head's classic Timberline trail. Super D racing is a mostly-downhill cross-country time trial. Racers start individually at 1-minute intervals and race against the clock. It’s downhill fun but you’ll want to use your XC or Trail bike for this race. The approximately 3.5-mile Super D course starts near the top of the Giant Steps lift and travels down (but with a little bit of up) one of Brian Head’s most famous singletracks. Expect finish times to be around 10 minutes.
Sunday's race starts at 11:30 a.m. and the approximately 2 mile Downhill course begins at the top of the Giant Steps chair lift. The course will start on Lil’ Gritty but will mostly descend the Wildflower DH trail. Nearer to the base, the course will use Tank’s Track and finish out on the Malicious Woods trail. This is the same course used for the past few races with a new route for most Novice racers. This year all Novice (Cat 3) racers will deviate from the main course by taking an easier route around "Faith's Wicked Garden" which is the most technical section. Fast times on Wildflower are sub 4-minutes, but any time under 5 minutes is excellent.
Cat 3 athletes will be routed around the super nasty section. This track is fast and, while still a challenge, it's a bit less technical.
